How To Help Small Businesses Struggling 2023

Many of the small businesses during covid-19 that were struggling were mostly brick-and-mortar businesses and restaurants.Today many different kinds of small businesses are struggling in 2023 as the year goes on.

Learn how you can help small business struggles in tough times.

Buy From Those Small Businesses Instead of the Big Retailers

The number one thing we can do is purchase things from small businesses in tough times vs. the big box retailers. Not just the things we need for our businesses but in our daily lives.

Learn who you are purchasing from. Understand their values and their vision.

Is that company you are buying from have items made in the USA? Do a little research before making your purchases.

Go Out to Eat or Grab a Coffee at a Local Coffee Shop

If you can support your local restaurants and coffee shops. These types of things can help the local economy.

When you do go out to eat or grab take-out be sure to leave a decent tip for those waiting on you. There are fewer people coming in so the tips are much lower as a whole for those working at these small businesses during these tough economic times.

Recommend Your Favorite Small Business

Give out recommendations to your favorite small business as they may be struggling in this economy with high inflation. You can give them a Google review, a Facebook page review,  a Yelp review, or send them a personal review for their website.

Recommend other businesses to help them in tough financial times.

Giving a business recommendation helps them because it can attract new customers and increase their credibility. When you recommend a business to others, you are essentially vouching for their products or services.

This can generate word-of-mouth referrals and bring in potential customers who trust your opinion. Additionally, positive recommendations can enhance a business’s reputation, making it more likely for new customers to choose them over competitors.

By taking the time to give a recommendation, you can greatly contribute to the success and growth of a business.

Find A New Approach to Advertising

In challenging economic landscapes, small businesses often find themselves in a tug of war, competing fiercely for the attention of their target audience. One of the most common pitfalls is sticking to tried-and-true marketing techniques without considering innovation.

It’s pivotal to think outside the box and explore avenues less traveled by competitors. Enter Out-of-Home Advertising Solutions. This form of advertising, which includes billboards, transit posters, and other outdoor ads, offers a visual appeal that can reach a broader audience, especially those less influenced by digital mediums.

By integrating these solutions, small businesses can capture the attention of potential customers in unexpected places, breathing new life into their brand and ensuring they remain top-of-mind even in tough times.

Share Their Businesses on Social Media

Yes, sharing their social media posts can help spread the word about them. They may not have the funds now with the higher costs of energy and food to spend on social media ads.

You can support other small businesses by sharing their posts on social media. By spreading the word about their products and services, you can help them reach a wider audience and increase their online visibility.

Sharing their posts on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram can have a significant impact on their success. It takes just a few seconds to hit the share button, but the benefits can be substantial for these small enterprises.

So, next time you come across a post from a local business, consider sharing it to help them thrive in the competitive online marketplace.

Raise or Lend Money To Help Small Business Struggles

If you are able you could help raise funds to keep local small businesses in tough times open or load money.

Doing a fundraiser with other local businesses in the area that are doing well even would be a feel-good experience and could save a family from heartbreak. Generosity can go a long way!

Of course, there are small business guidance and loans available from the SBA as well.

Help Them Start An Online Business From Their Brick And Mortar

If you can help them get set up with an online business to expand their brick-and-mortar business, it would help them increase their business reach and sales. Many small businesses that never had a website don’t know where to start today.

So, if you can help them along in their journey that would be a great way to help their small business during tough times. (If anyone needs help with that contact me here or send a tweet.)
